About the program
The Scholarly Viewpoint Challenge (SVC) is designed to help students develop a sophisticated understanding of scholarly communication while building the research, argumentation, and presentation skills emphasized in the AP Seminar program and essential to stand out on university applications.

Students learn how to identify meaningful questions, evaluate evidence, construct defensible arguments, and communicate their conclusions to academic audiences.
Building on its foundation of research, critical thinking, and scientific communication, the program enables students to develop a deep appreciation and practical understanding of scholarly communications — from forming research questions to constructing evidence-based arguments and engaging in peer review.
Throughout the program, students gain experience in the full cycle of academic knowledge creation—inquiry, analysis, argumentation, communication, and revision—preparing them for success in AP courses, undergraduate research, and beyond.
